We will explain these below. After fully installing BuddyPress, you will likely notice some changes in the way your admin area looks. In the upper left part, where the username and gravatar are located , you will notice a new circle with a zero inside it (an alert like the one shown before you). This is the notification indicator. With BuddyPress, you can choose settings to include message notifications, comments, friend requests, and more. If you hover your mouse over your username and gravatar, you'll notice a more detailed drop-down list of available options.

Notice the new options for Activity, Profile, Notifications, Messages, Friends, Groups, and Settings. You can also edit Monaco Email List your profile and update your account information just like on sites like Facebook or Twitter (formerly). You should also notice that many of the features you might use today on social networking sites are now on your website.



Finally, if you look at the navigation bar on the left side, you'll notice a new link for Activity (depending on your settings). Users BuddyPress is all about its user base. Without users, your BuddyPress installation might be somewhat non-existent. The first step, once you have enough users, is to allow new users to register for their own accounts.
