No it is an alternative to company meetings . A possible, and often preferable, alternative. Company meetings a necessary evil? We have known for years that companies have too many meetings. Some are necessary, but several studies tell us that unproductive and demotivating for those who participate. Worse they steal time  dedicated to "real" work. Let's try to list some reasons Some participants talk a lot, others little or not at all subjective photo retouching attitude, fear of judgment from others, aversion/propensity to compare, feeling more or less legitimated or competent in the discussion come into play. Some voices have greater weight than others hierarchical, seniority, gender or other differences impose dominant voices, behind which the others conform so-called group thinking , while other contributions are ignored. The topics are vast and are touched upon superficially we talk about a project or a theme as a whole e.g. the commercial strategy, the company website , or about many different topics, without identifying and discussing specific aspects or problems.



Conflicting opinions remain distant some participants bring their opinions to the table for others to note that they have no intention of changing them, for defensive purposes I told you so or as a function of a personal or political agenda. No concrete actions are identified at the end the next steps to resolve the problems that have emerged are not clearly identified, or it is not clear which are the most urgent problems to be resolved; it is often postponed to subsequent meetings hence the proliferation of meetings .
